Working on social services for justice clients. From a retrospective looking ahead to forensic welfare work
On the occasion of thirty years of the journal Panopticon, we mainly focus in this article on the tension between emancipation and control in forensic welfare work in Flanders. We portray how the social ser-vices for justice clients have moved at these recurrent crossroads between law and aid. This article also tackles upcoming challenges and reflects on how future registration systems, managerial objectives and indicators, impact measurements and evidence-based work will influence the forensic social work in Flanders.
