samenvatting

In this contribution the argument is developed that processes of militarization in relation to policing are deep currents that are often not recognized nor taken seriously when addressing evolutions in policing. It implies paying attention to the evolving relations between the police and the military. Although both institutions share a long history they have mostly been researched separately. Taking into account current evolutions in the field of security, theories on policing might benefit from reconsidering this relationship in future research.
