samenvatting	Europol is the EU Agency supporting the Member States in their fight against serious and international crime and terrorism. In order to be effective, this cooperation should be optimal. This contribution makes a critical analysis of the most important strengths and weaknesses of, on the one hand, the organisation Europol and, on the other hand, Belgium as an example of a Member State.
